昆西琼斯在视觉艺术学院的演讲 

第12届上海国际电影节圆满的结束了，我终于有时间来说说我的好朋友，昆西·琼斯（Quincy Jones）。

我想了很多词，我想用尽量简单的词去定义昆西，但我发现这真是很难。昆西无疑是美国音乐界最重要的人物，他已经不是单纯的“有名”了——1985年，他联合了45位国际巨星，为非洲的慈善活动合作了一首“We are the world”，相信你一定听过；他为Michael Jackson制作的专辑Thriller一共卖出了5千万张，是世界上最畅销的专辑！迄今为止，Quincy已经获得了27个格莱美奖（Grammy提名79次），7次奥斯卡奖提名，并获得了奥斯卡终身成就奖（the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award）。除了音乐方面的成就，Quincy也是慈善家、企业家、社会活动家……

在这次上海国际电影节期间，Quincy到了上海视觉艺术学院来给学生们做一个讲座。当天来了很多学生，大大的教师座无虚席，龚学平校长也亲自来到现场。

Quincy出生在芝加哥的黑人区，他的父亲是名木匠，专门给当地黑帮干活。所以小时候的Quincy脑袋里只想着打架、赚大钱，想自己有朝一日也成为一个黑帮的混混。直到有一天，当他和其他小混混又去打砸抢的时候，发现了一架钢琴，不可思议的事情发生了，就像一道灵光，Quincy忽然明白了原来这就是自己要为之奋斗终身的东西，于是就有了现在我们眼前这个国宝级的人物！（我的中文可没这么好，这来自当天的翻译沈家春）

 

My father worked as a master carpenter in the Bremerton Navy shipyard, but I was still dreaming of becoming a thug. We were the first black kids in town and Chicago had provided us with all the training we needed to take over the turf.
One night, we broke into an armory – which was also our recreation center – to steal some food. We stuffed ourselves with lemon meringue pie and ice cream, which then led to a food fight. I was like the Monkey King, eating all of those peaches of immortality in Heaven.
Afterwards, we split up and I broke into an administration room...and in the dark, I spotted a little spinet piano.

I was about to leave, but for some reason, I didn’t... and I slowly walked over and stared at that piano, then I let my fingers slowly slide down to touch the keys.

This was the moment of truth for me – every cell in my body knew in a heartbeat that music would be the dream of my life forever. Food and water would feed my body, but music would nourish my mind, heart and soul.
I gave up gangs from that point forward and started channeling my life to music.

当上海国际电影节的名人邀请委员会主席已经是第四年了，和往年一样，今次我也在家里给来自世界各地的大明星开了一个party。

她被称为“最让人神魂颠倒的女星”。我感觉她个人的魅力来自一种性感和优雅的集合，你看着她的脸，长长的睫毛，wow，眼睛就根本不想再挪开。

她最出名的影片应该是文艺片《邮差》，这么多年过去了，她还是一样的美丽，热情的微笑让所有客人都觉得她是不可多得的好朋友呢。而且她自己也制作电影，还曾做过SIFF的评委，和我们有很深的渊源。

今天我已经到达陕西的黄陵了.明天(4日)上午9点,我将参加2009年中华大祭祖――己丑年清明公祭轩辕黄帝典礼”.

 

轩辕黄帝是中华民族的人文始祖，位于陕西省黄陵县的陵寝，自古就被人们祭扫、拜谒。近年来在清明公祭黄帝陵已发展成为国家大典，不仅有国家领导人主祭，而且得到海外华人社会的热烈响应和积极参与，每年前来谒陵祭祖的华夏儿女都达10万之众。

 

这次,我将和北京台主持人栗坤、陕西电视台主持人邵伟以及被誉为“巴蜀鬼才”的著名剧作家魏明伦共同主持。专家将进行现场解说，观众届时也可以通过互动平台提出感兴趣和关心的问题，专家学者会进行实时解答,北京卫视,陕西卫视,凤凰卫视都将全程直播。

The other night, I had the great pleasure of seeing an old friend I met in New York City.  His name is Asif.  Back in New York City, we had a great time always having great conversations about fine food,  real estate (his interest),  politics (his family)  and good wine.  He is good looking, charming and very much fun and highly intelligent!  the sort of fellow that makes a good friend.  He also was the husband of the assasinated former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Benazir Bhutto. 
 
Those years, Benazir and Asif were in "exile" outside of Pakistan.  As you know, after Benazir was assasinated, Asif became the current President of Pakistan.  He was democratically voted into office with an overwhelming majority.   Since Benazir was Prime Minister of Pakistan twice and the family has been involved with politics for so long, he knows a lot of world leaders.  For example, he has known Hillary Clinton for 15 years. He is close to many such as the French President Sarkozy. 
 
Pakistan has been a long long time friend of China.  Even the first meeting between our Chinese Leaders and the US leaders were brokered through Pakistan. Thus,the first State visit of President Asif was to China.  He tells me that he will come to China every 4 months.  He wants to do a lot of business in China.
 
One of his best friends came to Shanghai a few days ago.  President Asif invited both of us to dine with him one night even though he has already had dinner with our Shanghai Mayor Han zhen.  Meeting him these days is rather complicated.  Lots of security on the floor he lives on.  and then of course he has his own security.   I asked him whether he has seen the hotel.  He says that these days it is far more complicated to see anything without mobilizing lots of security, so he has never seen his hotel other than the entrance and the elevator to his suite.
 
Due to the violence surrounding his family and his country, I asked if he was worried about his own safety.  He said that he was not worried.  Since he decided to become a political person, he said, he cannot think of safety.  If someone is to kill him, there is no way to stop this person.  When I think about this question, he is right.   The best security cannot protect anyone from being assasinated.  Many people say that they are worried about Obama, because he was the first black President in the United States.  I do not want to be pessimistic.  Just like the terrorists, how can we stop anyone whose focus is to kill?
How has he changed since I last saw him?  well, he is no longer just a care free citizen. while we used to talk only of easy subjects, today, he talks about how to be sure that the farmers in pakistan can grow crops that can get them more income (thus he went to hebei province to buy hybrid technology this time.  He talks about housing for the poor, the need for a better airport.  he talks of very weighty problems.  What a change.  What also struck me was how knowledgeable he is about so many things.  Maybe when I knew him as a normal person, he did not need to utilize what he knew, but today, he has to and has to lead the country.  The change was most enlightening. Running a country is not an easy task.  I fully feel (  This reminds me of my neighbours in new york city.  One of my neighbours is the Secretary General of the United Nations. SInce they are my neighbours,  I know them very well.  When they are in office, like Mr.boutros boutros ghalli, i used to see him stroll in our private garden with his head hanging low and body stooped, as if the world was on his shoulders.  but whenever we met somewhere in the world like Paris and Athens,  after his tour of duty,  he was light funny, always joking and utterly charming! 2 different persons! ) 
I asked President Asif if he will ever marry again. He asked  "why would I ever marry again?"  Good answer. He already has 3 children with Benazir.  Also he has a legacy to bear -- he is the widower of the former Prime Minister from a famous linage, a famous assasinated one no less.  But he is very attractive and has a most endearing way and good manners.  If he wants a girl friend, I am sure there is absolutely no problem whatsoever!
Since he will be coming back every 4 months, he said that he will come to a party in my home next time he comes.  The only request?  no cameras.
The meal he served me that other night was just great.  He brought a chef that could speak Chinese!  Pakistan food is much like Indian and Malaysian food.  It was delicious.  I guess if you are the President, you cannot have a bad cook!
When I saw him, the first thing I said was," Asif, congratulations! "   He looked at me and said:  "Yue-Sai, i do not know if it should be congratulations or condolence".  I understand what he means of course.  Destiny is unfathomable!  It is often determined by someone up there!  we are powerless as little humans.

Dunhill recently opened the most spectacular "Club House" in shanghai on 796 Huai Hai Road.  It is made up of 2 villas with a garden and the renovation is so spectacular that i would say it is one of the most beautiful places in China.  it is elegant without being ostentatious. It is rich without being "at your face".   the place exudes of great taste.  I was very happy to visit the place.

 
Tonight I was invited to have dinner there in honor of the famous UK movie star, Jude Law.  Usually he does not have a moustache.  but tonight he has one.  Why?  because he is making a movie on Sherlock Holmes in the UK and he is here only for Dunhill.  He told me that his career's turning point was the movie The Incredible Mr. Ripley.  (if you have not seen it, you must!  it is really a great movie) and that he loves not only making movies, but on stage.  Stage acting is really demanding.  In film or TV, you can always edit and repeat till you are perfect. sometimes a scene makes 50 takes, but on stage, every night, you must perform LIVE with a LIVE audience.  That is real performance.  You have to be really good to be on stage.  Anyway, i was seated next to him at dinner.  He was a most adorable companion.  Of course, i do not need to mention his good looks. But he was so charming.  He has a great deal of curiosity, about everything...about Chinese culture about people and everything he hears. He has a knack of making me feel that he REALLY is interested in what you have to say.  he would say "Oh, this is so interesting!"   He makes you feel so special.   What a gentleman.  It is how someone make you FEEL that is important. Remember what I say in my book.
Go to the DVD stores.  Look for films that Jude has done.  You will perhaps love the movie he does with Wang Kar Wai, called Blueberry night.  He loves working with Wang.  He thinks it is a most freeing way to act, because there is no pressure.  everything becomes so easy...
Enjoy Jude Law.  I had told him about the Shanghai Film Festival next year.  I hope he will attend with his 3 children so we may see him again!

Hey, I am running around too much today.  but I had a very interesting experience and would to share with you. If you have time, please translate for me the following:
 
China is speeding along in its economic growth amazingly fast. In the area of sports, Tennis and Golf today are already very popular but yachting and polo are still rather new. Today I was invited by Mr. Li Qingfu to Nine Dragon Polo field to witness the opening of the Polo Match.  It was sponsored by Royal Salute and their global ambassador is the Duke of Argyle.  It is a very beautiful field and it is interesting I see so many people there.  Mr. Li told me that last year, the first year, they had only a few thousand people and had no sponsors.  This year they have a lot of sponsors including Cartier.  They expect that in the next 3 days, they will attract more than 12000 people.  You know that Polo was a game we used to play in Tang Dynasty.  We do not play it today.  But I am sure the game we play today is different from the one we played in the old days.  I learned about Polo from an old German boyfriend who was an avid Polo player.  He told me that he wanted to have as many kids as he can to make up a Polo Team.  That is 4!

The Duke of Argyle is a nice easy going young man.  He is one of the 26 duke-doms in the UK.  This is a title he inherits from the family. The title Duke is for man and duchess is for woman.   (OK, there is the King and Queen, Prince and Princess and then Duke and Duchess, that is the hierarachy)    I also learned something else today.  I said to him that I know Fergie, the Duchess of York very well (Prince Andrew's wife).  He said, oh, that is a different kind of Duchess.  She is a ROYAL Duchess.  Higher ranking in the Royal Family.
Later on, we had lunch at the Yacht Club dining room.  I love water and I love boats.  I had a most enjoyable day.  The Nine Dragon Development is really developing a lot of things.  apartments, polo club, hotel, yacht club, golf course.  many many.  When the building is finished, it will be a big big development.  it took me almost 2 hours to get there and then 2 hours to get back.

为了这个新baby，我们在港汇广场的中庭一连做了8天的活动。一转眼这八天就过去了，我也算终于有时间在这里写一些东西给大家。

这次的roadshow的设计分成前后两块，外面是做活动的小舞台，里面是“羽西之家”产品的展示区。

这是来助阵的我的好朋友，奥运游泳冠军庄泳，她现在非常漂亮哦，不仅有郁金香传媒的大生意，还刚刚开了一家纤体中心叫做“郡姿纤体”，在淮海中路300号香港新世界大厦B2。我们很多圈里的朋友也都去那里瘦身的。

在周末时候做了两场《中国淑女》的签售会，不过也只是签书，大家经常拿着从羽西之家买的商品来让我签名，你看这就是要我在小帆船上签名！

 

这两天大概拍了上万张照片吧，几乎每个人都拿出相机，还有很多人都是用手机的拍摄功能。Uma形容签书会简直成了电子设备博览会了！

除了大家熟悉我的“羽西”化妆品，因为这个品牌可以说一直伴随着中国改革开放的历程，我做过很多事情，从“世界各地” 到“羽西看世界”，从“羽西化妆品”到今天的“羽西之家”，我一直希望尽我的力量为中国做一些事情。

那做这些工作的动力是什么原因呢，每一次在面临选择的时候，我都会问自己：这样做会对中国的发展有益吗？如果答案是肯定的，我才会去做。当我决定做电视片，化妆品，羽西娃娃和写书的时候，我只有一个目的，那就是帮助中国人向世界打开一扇大门，向中国介绍一种现代生活方式，并使国人对自己有全新的认识和提高。

今天我所看到的中国是我30年前无法想象到的，而我今天看到的包括和我一起工作的年轻人，更是让我看到了中国的希望，他们是那么年轻富有朝气，并且努力工作，更重要的是他们比中国任何一个时代的年轻人眼界更开阔，和世界连接的更紧密！

与我一同演讲的还有段和段律师事务所的创始人段祺华先生，上好佳董事长施学理先生，英国诺丁汉大学校长杨福家先生。他们作为华人华侨那一颗赤子之心让我感动。我们都深深的体会到，无论怎样的荣誉与成就，背后都有一个原因—那就是中国的崛起。

]]> 羽西之家图书馆终于成立了！ http://jinyuxi.blog.sohu.com/100602788.html http://jinyuxi.blog.sohu.com/100602788.html#comment 看羽西 搜世界 Thu, 25 Sep 2008 12:26:38 +0800 http://jinyuxi.blog.sohu.com/100602788.html 为了在乡村小学创办羽西之家图书馆，我们从这个暑假开始进行“收集书，收集爱”的活动。在“一个村小”组织和很多很多朋友的支持下，“羽西之家”的第一个图书馆已经在陕西的桐梁小学建成了！

看到图片的时候我非常感动，我们只是做很小的事情，却能换来孩子们那么高兴的笑脸，而更重要的是，他们从书中获得了很多知识，这是他们一生都受用的财富。

 

据说这个小学有74个学生，分成6个班，有4个老师，距离镇上有28公里，交通条件很差，走路过去要6个小时。本来计划是运一批新的桌椅过去，但山路没法走，学校就建议翻新从前的旧桌椅，省下的钱可以再捐一座图书馆！当然也要谢谢很多朋友拎着重重的书送到“羽西之家”门店，我们的“感谢您温暖柔软的心”图书换毛巾的活动也会继续进行，谢谢大家的爱心！

公益就是让“收”与“受”的双方都有感激的心，付出也可以是一种荣幸。公益和慈善就是能力大就多帮助别人一些，能力小就少帮助一些，但一定要伸出援手。我现在有能力帮助更多的人是我的荣幸，因为我一路走来接受了太多人的帮助！
